AIDS IS REAL! And No, am not saying that as a cliche!
I know what your thinking! You can't believe I have become one of them. You know the ones I mean. The ones who write about educational stuff and once you read the title, your mouth is on que to yawn and facebook chat pops into your brain.
Regardless, we are going to talk about AIDS. Okay, more like am going to yap about it and your going to read this post trying so much to sound like my mind probably is while scribbling this down, stressing the attitude and all.
Am one of those optimistic people who believe that the country's population matured and learned to leave the ignorant and illiterate ways behind. I mean given the way education is advertised everyday and rights activitists all decorating our city with flyers and cardboards about Girl Education and the like, you'd think at least one in 20 people would have a mind to ponder on what they are putting across. I cannot say for the students under USE generally coz by the time i was in secondary, such priviledges did not exist. But i attended a primary school that was part of the UPE program and from when you were in P.2, you had to attend a class the teachers liked to call Secondary education. Now for some of us, we attended coz we thought we were going to learn grown up stuff n stop being called 'baby' (stil dissapointed on that just so you know). It was a very educational class and ad like to say it is that same class that has managed to keep me sane about this whole AIDS debacle.
I got so surprised recently when a collegue of mine did not know that this dreadful disease could be got in other ways than just sex! Please note that this guy is married, 40yrs old and has 3 children.
Now even if you think it can only be transmitted through sex...why the hell would you have unprotected sex? And dont tell me you dont cause all those sex tapes and flushed cheeks just proves me right!
You know what? Scrap protected sex and ABSTAIN! And yeah yeah your going to say sex is too good to give up and what not, but come on, if we taught our kids to abstain from when they are virgins, would that statement work?
Imagine how joyfull your spouse would be knowing they are the only ones you have been with. That you kept such a precious gift for them. That you kept yourself clean for them.
Imagine the no guilt everytime you walked into church, or having to repent such a dirty sin?
Sex is sacred we have established that!
AIDS is a monsterous killer and you need to wake up....be consious of the circumstances you put your health in....go to salons that sterilize their equipments, keep your eyes open at clinics to make sure the medical staff are using clean needles and sharp tools. Watch out for little ones.
Okay true, now I sound like a song should break out or something saying we are the world or something! Lol!
But seriously....there may be ARVs, but who says the strain of HIV you get will let u live another day?
Go check yourself, and remember watch out for you and your neighbour.
